History: Vera was born and raised in the magical realm. She never knew her parents and lived with her Grandmother for as long as she could remember. Her grandmother had a small garden and it was Vera's duty to take the fruits and vegetables into town and sell them. Vera's grandmother would always tell her to take the same path each time for the other of the two, was very dangerous. She never knew why, she just knew that it was. When Vera was seventeen she was on her usual route to take the goods into town, she decided to take the dangerous path instead of her usual. She was curious as to what the other path was like. Nothing happened. At least she didn't think anything did. Little did she know someone was watching her the whole time and followed her home.

That night, after Vera's Grandmother had long gone to bed and Vera was reading a book by candlelight, she heard someone enter their home. She snuck quietly into the main room with the knife she always kept underneath her pillow and found a scrawny 19 year old boy rummaging through their cabinets.  After threatening to kill the boy, she saw that had really meant no harm. He was a homeless boy who lived in the forest and he had said that game in the forest was down and had hardly had anything to eat in days. Vera pitied the poor and made him a meal and then they stayed up for the rest of the night talking away. She learned that night that he was a shape-shifter and just couldn't keep her eyes of him. The boy had so many stories! He had seen so many things! Vera thought he was the most interesting person in the world. Just before dawn Vera gave the boy some food and sent him on his way. She had no idea how her Grandmother would react to a thief in the house...

Each night the boy came and each night the two of them stayed up talking the night away. They both eventually fell in love and the boy begged Vera to run away with him. It was a hard but easy decision. She knew in her heart that this was what she wanted, but she loved her Grandmother..though in the end she chose the boy and the two of them ran into the night together. He taught her to steal, hunt and trap and she taught him to read and write. Eventually the two married and they lived happily on the traveling road.

Vera knew her husband had some sort of ties to the Evil Queen, but was never sure what. So when he was recruited to be a spy in another realm, Vera did not want him to go and begged him to stay. Knowing what she was trying to do, the Evil Queen came to her one night and threatened to kill Vera's grandmother if she did not only let her husband go, but be a spy herself. Vera agreed immediately and the two set off for the new realm.
